Elizabeth Packard, The Woman Who Would Not Be Silenced
March 18 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm
Laura F Keyes presents a historical portrayal of women’s rights pioneer Elizabeth
Packard. In 1860 Packard was committed to the Illinois’ state mental asylum, all the
while protesting her sanity. She was eventually able to obtain her release. Conscious of the fact that the current law allowed married women to be placed in asylums by their husbands without the benefit of a trail or medical examination, Elizabeth started a campaign to change that unjust law.
