Kids Programs & Story Times
Tot Tales
This is a weekly program that meets Wednesday mornings at 11:00 am and is geared towards children between the ages of 0-3 which introduces babies and toddlers to songs, rhymes, hand motions and books. Registration is required.
Weekly Story Hours
Story hours are geared for children ages 3-5 and includes stories, songs, crafts, and snacks. Story hour meets Tuesday at 1:00 pm. Registration is required.
Afterschool Crew
This program is for school age children ages 5-9 and meets Tuesday at 4:00 pm. Each week will be a different activity for the kids that covers STEM concepts or an arts and crafts program. Registration is required.
Chapter Club
This program meets once a month program on the last Monday of the month at 6:30 and is for children 7 – 10 to get together to discuss a book. This month’s selection of book can be picked up at the Patron Services desk. Registration is required.
Paws For Reading
This program is for children ages 6-11 and meets the fourth Thursday of every month from 4-5 pm. Children are invited to read in 15-minute increments to therapy dogs. Registration is required.
1000 Books Before Kindergarten
This program is designed to encourage a child and their parents to read together every day. Babies through children not yet in kindergarten may participate. Children will earn rewards after completing different levels. + For more information on how to sign up please visit the library!
Awe Learning Station
The Somonauk Library has a dedicated educational computer station designed exclusively for kids ages 2-8. It features more than 100 educational programs and learning games. These programs cover all subjects from Reading & Literacy to Science, Writing, Math, Art, Music, History & More!!!
ABC Mouse For Libraries
This online resource available at the library offers a safe, 100 percent educational computer environment for children with no advertising or links to external websites.
